Group cottage in the Vendée

A large group cottage,
in two independent houses.

At La Grange Essartaise, in Les Essarts, a large group stay doesn't mean cramming into one house. Book both cottages — Sand Baya and Le Cottage du chemin des chênes — and you have the whole estate to yourselves: up to 12 guests, two adjoining houses and one shared garden, 35 minutes from Puy du Fou.

Up to 12 guests

Each cottage sleeps four to six guests, so up to 12 in total when you book both. Each house has two bedrooms, an extra sleeping space and a bathroom with a separate WC.

You can also take just one cottage for a smaller group, then open the second house as the family grows from one year to the next. Beyond the beds, the garden and living spaces are sized so everyone has room to breathe, together.

Two cottages, not one

The comfort of an estate, not a dormitory.

An estate of two cottages means two kitchens, two bathrooms, two entrances and two living rooms rather than one big shared house. No more single bathroom besieged at dawn, no more washing-up for twenty on a single worktop.

Days are shared — morning coffee on the terrace, children running in the garden, the evening barbecue. Then each family goes home: babies sleep in the quiet, night owls stay up without waking anyone. Acoustic double insulation separates the two houses.

The two-house principle
Which groups it suits

Together, without living on top of each other.

The estate is designed for two families of friends travelling together with the children, a family reunion or a get-together over a weekend, three generations who want to be together without living side by side around the clock.

It also suits a birthday, a christening or a small wedding: the civil ceremony is held at the Les Essarts town hall, the reception drinks on site. A creative group can rent the adjoining workshop together with both cottages.

At the centre of the Vendée

One base camp, several Vendées.

In Les Essarts, you are at the crossroads of the A83 and A87 motorways, at the heart of the département. Puy du Fou is 35 minutes away, the Les Sables-d'Olonne beaches 50, La Roche-sur-Yon 20. A group can alternate a day at the park, a day at the sea and a quiet day in the garden without ever repacking.

Frequently asked questions

Can both cottages be booked together to have the estate to ourselves?

Yes. Sand Baya and Le Cottage can be booked separately or together. Book both and your group has the whole estate: two independent houses around one garden, with no other guests on site.

How many guests can you host?

Each cottage sleeps four to six guests, up to 12 in total when you book both. Beyond the beds, the garden and living spaces are designed so everyone has room to breathe.

How is this different from a single large group cottage?

An estate of two cottages means two kitchens, two bathrooms, two entrances and two living rooms rather than one big shared house. Everyone keeps their own space: children asleep on one side won’t hear the adults on the other, thanks to acoustic double insulation between the two houses.

How many bedrooms and bathrooms per cottage?

Each cottage has two bedrooms, an extra sleeping space and a bathroom with a separate WC, for four to six guests. Vanity corners are fitted in the bedrooms to ease the mornings at full capacity.

How far are you from Puy du Fou?

It’s a 35-minute drive on direct roads from Les Essarts. Close enough for a day at the park without a dawn start, and far enough to spend the evening in quiet, away from the crowds.

What kind of groups is the estate designed for?

Two families of friends travelling with the children, a family reunion or a get-together over a weekend, three generations who want to be together without living on top of each other. It also suits a birthday, a christening or a small wedding: the civil ceremony is held at the Les Essarts town hall, the reception drinks on site.

Are baby equipment and self check-in included?

Yes. A travel cot with sheet and mattress protector, a baby bath and a high chair are provided on request, at no extra charge. A smart lock with dynamic code lets each family arrive whenever they like, including late after a day at the park.

Do you accept pets, and when can we book?

Pets are not allowed in either cottage, out of respect for allergies and everyone’s comfort. We open in spring 2027, and the first dates open then too. Join the waiting list to hear first.
