Two houses side by side.
Together, without getting in each other's way.
Bringing two families under one roof usually means a compromise: everyone crammed into one large gîte, one bathroom at breakfast, and the children asleep on one side hearing the adults on the other. At La Grange Essartaise, that trade-off disappears.
Sand Baya and Le Cottage du chemin des chênes are two complete, independent cottages, wall to wall, around a shared garden. Each family has its own kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom and front door, and everyone meets outside whenever they please.
That is what a two-cottage estate offers over a single large house. Days are shared: morning coffee on the terrace, children running in the garden, the evening barbecue. Then each family heads home: babies sleep in peace, night owls stay up without waking anyone. Between the two houses, acoustic double-skin insulation lets no sound through, so each family keeps its own quiet.
A house to come together.
The setup suits two families of friends travelling together with the children, a weekend family reunion, or three generations who want to see each other without sharing every hour of the day.
It also works for a birthday, a christening or a small wedding: the civil ceremony takes place at the Les Essarts town hall, the reception drinks on site. Up to 12 guests share two houses and one garden.
One base camp, several Vendées.
Les Essarts sits where the A83 and A87 motorways meet, at the centre of the department. Puy du Fou is 35 minutes away, the Sables-d'Olonne beaches 50, La Roche-sur-Yon 20. You can alternate a day at the park, a day by the sea and a quiet day in the garden without ever repacking.
Can both cottages be booked together?
Yes. Sand Baya and Le Cottage can be booked separately or together. Book both and you have the whole estate to yourselves: two independent houses, one shared garden, up to 12 guests.
Are the two families really independent?
Each cottage has its own kitchen, bedrooms, bathroom and entrance. Acoustic double insulation separates the two houses, so children asleep on one side won’t hear the adults on the other.
How far are you from Puy du Fou?
It’s a 35-minute drive on direct roads from Les Essarts. Close enough for a day at the park without a dawn start, and far enough to spend the evening in quiet, away from the crowds.
Is baby equipment available?
A travel cot with sheet and mattress protector, a baby bath and a high chair are provided on request, at no extra charge. We are parents of three young children ourselves.
How many people can you host?
Each cottage sleeps four to six guests, up to 12 in total when you book both. Beyond the beds, the garden and living spaces are designed so everyone has room to breathe.
Do you accept pets?
Pets are not allowed in either cottage, out of respect for allergies and every guest’s comfort.
When do you open, and how do we book?
We open in spring 2027. The first dates open in autumn 2026: join the waiting list to hear first and to follow the renovation in photos.
Planning a stay for two families?
Write to us early: June and September weekends go first, and we open the first dates in autumn 2026.
